Yesterday evening Hans & Rasmus invited us to their barbeque in the abandoned settlement Assaqutaq which is about half an hour away in a boat of Jesper's type. The settlement consists of – yes, abandoned houses – some in better shape than others.

Hans made sure the wine had a decent temperature and Jesper spiced up the steaks with Mediterranean salt and black pepper.

And I hopped about to get pictures of the empty houses. Asaqutaq is on a tiny island with no fresh water, and it puzzles me why they wanted to settle in such a place in the old days. Now the place is used by sailors who jump ashore to drink their coffee and by school children who camp there for days and engrave their names in the wooden beds and write graffiti on the walls.

On Monday Jesper came back from his summer holidays in Denmark. He was gone for 3 weeks and I missed him and now he’s back for the reindeer hunt that starts today – August 1st.

And then the wine had the right drinking temperature...
