Books and Holes in the Ground

Finishing a good book can be very sad, and I feel sad saying goodbye to Inspector Morse. Luckily, my friend Pia has directed my attention to the film adaptation of Ian McEwan’s Atonement, a novel I hugely enjoyed and judging from the trailer looks to have been turned into an excellent film. Can’t wait! Meanwhile I have just purchased three new novels from Amazon (fully intended add, ‘cause Amazon delivers the goods to Greenland in merely three days. No Internet shop from abroad I’ve tried has beaten that record). David Lodge is usually a good and highly witty laugh and Coetzee is probably my all time favourite. A master of precision, never saying too much, never using a word that is not necessary. The last one, by Morton, was recommended to my by Amazon on account of my earlier purchases. Normally I don’t really fall for that, but now I’ll try it out. The risk is that I’ll discover a new writer that I like :o)

Holes in the ground have we no more, as the hole filler man was here yesterday to, yes exactly, fill up the hole. Hopefully the cellar will stay dry, also in time of break of the frost. Jesper & Jan admires the hole no longer there. Next project will be to plant grass seeds.
