This is weather for drinking steaming hot chocolate and curling up in the couch with a good book. And me – I used to be so fond of David Lodge and now I struggle to finish his novel Small World. Why? It certainly is witty, well-written, set in academic environments that most people would love to be part of and shortlisted for the Booker Prize. The objection I feel must be because David Lodge seems to expose his characters rather than taking a liking to them. I’m one of these old-fashioned readers who prefer to sympathize with the main characters and not having them ridiculed and stripped of honour and nobility. And as for the steaming hot chocolate I’m sticking to Ribena with warm water.

Its good to see that someplace on this planet is getting some rain.
Here in N.C., we've gone for a number of months now with very little rain. It's truly one of the worst dry-spells that I've seen in my lifetime. Hopefully a bit of your wet weather will somehow drift our way. We really need any amount of water we can get now. The rivers and streams are near their all-time lows and even the large trees are now beginning to show signs of water starvation.
